Modelling Unloading Station

Re-doing Towers and Cables

When exporting into Unreal Engine 4, I came across issues with scaling. According to my group members, the towers looked too small. I then placed a human built in UE4 next to the towers and gave it a sense of scale. It looked correct.

Connecting Towers & Modelling Cables

I originally wanted to Export from MAX to UE4 and place the towers at each one's location. I then figured this would be harder as it makes it almost impossible to add the cables. So I went back and added the cables and exported the models as one.

Sharing The Map

After almost a week of issues, I have finally been able to get the map from Lukas' computer onto mine to start importing the MAX Models.

Presentation Group 4 - Conflict

This week's presentation I would say had the most interesting topic where all students got involved. This is probably due to the fact that almost everyone had been involved whether it be in the past or present in some sort of a conflict where a number of parties have disagreements. The presentation got my group asking questions to one another whether we as a group have been experiencing any sort of conflicts over the semester and what our alternatives are to sort these issues. I honestly began thinking to myself in past situations where I was in an awkward like position.
I also found interesting how our class groups would deal with such a situation. Who has the last say? how far can we go to reach a decision?

Argument
disagreement

have given examples of conflicts in group work....... very detailed

  • change
  • clash of personalities
  • Poor leadership
  • Poor communication - nice example. Grabbing class' attention
  • Standards
  • Controlling emotions

Types of people causing conflict

  • ''my idea is better'' - example relating back to his group
  • drama queen
  • The never on time
  • The carry (does all the work)
  • ninja
explained how to avoid conflict

avoiding it does not get rid of it

given information on how to resolve it. Posted questions to ask yourself if you are causing conflict in your group.

good communication is the best way to resolve a conflict.... by listening, being straight and direct
put personal feelings aside

have talked about the positives and negatives

related the topic back to their project - Marker Project. Interesting to see how they as a group are able to deal with the matter.

like how they related the issue back to a previous class project where the whole class had taken part in. Hextic

Presentation Group 3 - Intellectual Property

As future designers, it is absolutely critical that we have some sort of basic knowledge on hot to make something your own...... Legally!
In todays day and age, with technology the best its ever been, losing a design or patent can be simply done by the click of a mouse button. Knowing the basics of Intellectual property can help protect my design. I find this information critical, for the world we live in is challenging is terms of design.
As a University student, I cant say I have designed something out in the real world for someone to illegally place his hands on, but as a student, I do know how frustrating it gets having another student 'steal' your work and make it theirs.
Intellectual Property is a Legal form of protection

protecting a product.
-Trademark
-patent
-copyright
-design

its importance - anyone can just copy you. lead to a decline in products. no new ideas.

giving good tips to other groups on how they could protect their design.
giving examples that relates to us students through previous uni work.
very annalytical.
giving real world examples of conflicts
explaining how it is possible to breach the legal rights of all protection examples
have identified how they relate Intellectual Property back to their main project (oculus)
interesting animation video

Aerial ropeway - not our design. Models are not ours. belong to Scenic world katoomba.

design - refers to features of shape eg, apple and Samsung

trademark - distinguish good a services

copyright - protects original protection of ideas but no idea itself

patent - right for any device, substance, method or process that is new and useful
